Infomercial

Ultimately the book sounds more like an infomercial than anything else.
You might be able to pick an idea or two, and see how to develop them with your set of tools or in your own strategies, but basically if you are already trading, you are not the primary target audience of this book.
This book is more for wanna be traders looking for an ... "Entry Point". And they are in luck because Ross Cameron is offering a 1.000 - 5.000 $ courses. Actually I have no problem with that, but in this case the book and its title are clearly misleading, because you will not learn how to day trade, but you will learn that there is an "effective course" (!) that can (might) teach you how to.

Most of the content of the book is in free access on the author's site...Well, you know what?...On second thought this is absolutely an infomercial.

The book should be called how to actually make money consistently day trading

A very solid and in depth look at the business of day trading. Strongly suggest that if you are looking at getting into this you start here. Education is key and the more you learn before you start the more you can save in early trading losses. Remember bulls make money, bears make money pigs and sheep get slaughtered. Very well written, informative and yet easy to understand. I will definitely use some of the ideas learned here in my daily trading

Engaging account well-told and lovingly-researched

I am not a hardcore GWTW fan, nor a lover of biographies or history for that matter. That being said, Bestseller's Odyssey was a great read and I thoroughly enjoyed learning about the life and times of Margaret Mitchell's great work. I received an advance copy of Bestseller's Odyssey with few preconceptions and so was not surprised to discover how little I understood of the publishing industry. What I was not expecting was to be so intrigued by the nature and number of legal hurdles which Mitchell and her work overcame. Extending far beyond its initial print publication, this book details all those who shaped the ultimate path of Gone with the Wind.

Despite my original ambivalence (apologies all) towards GWTW, I found myself rooting for Mitchell as she struggled to protect her work and maintain her principled stance. My appreciation for Mitchell deepened reading how she overcame each successive challenge as she shepherded the book along its way. I chuckled reading the frequent excerpts from Mitchell's genteel yet fierce correspondence. The depth and breadth of this book was impressive and left me rueful for simpler, more civil times.

Excellent story of the story...

Co-authors Ellen F Brown and John Wiley have produced an incredibly well-researched and well-written book about Margaret Mitchell and her one amazing book, "Gone With The Wind". Brown and Wiley concentrate more on Margaret Mitchell, her husband John Marsh, and other members of her "team" after the book was written than of the actual writing itself. The writing of the book, hereafter referred to as "GWTW", was just the beginning of the story.

Getting the manuscript - which was in bits and pieces in envelopes scattered throughout the Marshes' apartment in Atlanta - to Macmillan Publishers in NYC and then into print in 1935 and 1936 took the efforts of author, publisher, friends, and family members. The most important members of Mitchell's "team" were her father and brother, both Atlanta lawyers. Margaret's brother, Stephens Mitchell, acted as her adviser on all legal matters from her initial dealings with Macmillan, through to movie contracts with David Selznick, and then foreign rights. Stephens, an older brother, survived Margaret who died after being struck by a car on Peachtree Street in 1949. Mitchell's husband was also an important assistant to her in her business dealings.

Because, basically, after the book was written, what followed after "creativity" were "business matters". Publishing rights both domestic and foreign, movie rights, and the all-important "sequel" rights. And, of course, the work of "selling" the book was also "business". Margaret Mitchell, a basically shy woman, did not want to do very much publicity for her book. She was polite to her adoring fans, answering all letters, but she would not "sign" books. She wouldn't speak to groups about her book and she wouldn't be interviewed, either.

But the MOST important thing that Margaret Mitchell would NEVER do was to write a sequel. She was adamant that the story spoke for itself and she refused to entertain any idea of continuing the story of Scarlett and Rhett beyond that final scene at the door. The trustees who managed her estate after her and John Marsh's deaths, did allow a couple of sequels to be written, but neither of them were particularly large sellers or critical successes.

Brown and Wiley are very smooth, competent writers. Their book was a pleasure to read. The text also included many family pictures of the Mitchells and Marshes, as well as of the agents and publishers and film makers who had helped to make both the book and the movie such world-wide successes. A very good book.

Superb read

While the whole book was phenomenal and informative, the last 3 chapters would make a riveting story in and of themselves. The ongoing saga of legal rights, responsibilities, and the struggle faced by her husband, brother, and later the trusts involved in handling her book and movie rights blew me away. All of this due to the unbelievable novel, Gone With the Wind!

About the Author

DR NIGEL THOMAS is an accomplished linguist and military historian and was a Principal Lecturer in charge of the Business Language Unit at the University of Northumbria, Newcastle, where he was awarded a PhD on the Eastern Enlargement of NATO. His interests are 20th century military and civil uniformed organizations, with a special interest in Germany, Central and Eastern Europe. He has recently formed his own company - Nigel Thomas Associates' (www.nt-associates.com), involved in military and business translation from French, German and Italian, military authorship and military uniform consultancy.

Laszlo Szabo is an author living in Hungary and currently conducting archival research in the national archives. The author lives in Tyne and Wear, UK.

Once again Osprey has done a fantastic job at looking at one of the Axis Players in World war II. The Plate are great as is the information on a country which is offen overshadowed by Germany. Worth adding to one's collection.

A good start on an important subject

The Axis eastern satellites have received very little, mostly negative coverage in the classic accounts of World War 2. Generally their war efforts are footnotes or used as the excuse for German failure and Soviet success. These armies fought long and hard with very inferior equipment, armor and anti-tank guns in particular, against formidable odds. This short treatment of the Hungarians is very good. Hungary is a country whose difficult language and long history of Soviet domination has kept western historical researchers at bay. This work is not the final answer, nor could it be within the limitations of the Osprey format. But, it goes a long way to open the door and inform the reader of the Hungarian contribution to the Axis war effort. The Hungarians fought with the Germans to the last and paid a horrific price in military and civilian lives and post-war distrust by the Soviets. The color plates were excellent. I would have preferred a bit more on the tanks, planes and other equipment, trading off the space used for order of battle information. But this is minor quip. This is a good start for those wanting a better understanding of the war on the Eastern Front.

This is an excellent book. It goes directly towards the core of the practice of forgiveness which is the working tool
of a course in miracles. Carpenter speaks from experience of the real world and this is very valuable. It is
an inspiring book as well, it reminds you that the (ONLY IMPORTANT) issue is not fixing what you "see" is wrong, but allow the Holy
Spirit to do changes in your perception for you. I highly recommend this book. Seriously.

THIS BOOK IS A MUST-READ!!!

This is my first time ever to write a review about a book that I have read. Indeed, I feel compelled to do so!!! The Miracle of Real Forgiveness is truely a wonderful book. Thanks to Tom Carpenter, I now understand what forgiveness is and how I can use it in my life. And as I was reading it, every word seemed to resonate within me. The language he uses is both poetic and profound and I found myself going over some sentenses again and again so that I could savour his words. In my opinion, he makes easy a very difficult subject to grasp. I've had many "aha" moments, and I could literally feel his words clearing my mind of years of confusion and uncertainty and doubt.

About the Author
Carla Johnson has spent the last 10 years living in the Bahamas and South Florida. A member of the Professional Association of Dive Instructors, (PADI) she has taught over 500 students to SCUBA dive since 1992. She is a US Coast Guard captain and has logged many hours under both power and sail on the waters of Florida and the Bahamas.

She and her husband, Cliff, met while working aboard a cruise ship in the Bahamas. After spending seven years working together as owners of their dive business in the Florida Keys, they relocated to the Bahamas.

For the past two years Carla and Cliff have operated a charter catamaran, Tropical Attitudes, in the Bahamas. Carla is the chef and dive instructor on board and many of the recipes in this book are her own creations.

Carla is an active SCUBA diver and an accomplished free diver. Her love of seafood adds to her motivation to catch it.

Carla lives on board Tropical Attitudes based out of Nassau. In her spare time she loves to read, watch movies and catch seafood. She also finds time to write between charters and is currently working on her first novel.

Marketing in plain English

I have to admit upfront that I purchased this book solely because a segment of one of its chapters solidified my position about the use of sans serif text in my company's global advertising. I am a marketing manager for a flooring manufacturer, but I do not have a marketing degree. Therefore, I read books and articles to supplement my on the job knowledge and experience. Principles of Advertising is a plain English, example-rich source book for current advertising ideas. It is also interspersed with insets called Global Perspectives and Ethics Tracks which compare U.S. advertising to other countries, and the ethics (or lack of ) found in advertising respectively. I find that I refer to it frequently in my day to day business for new and fresh ideas, and it does not bog you down with lofty rhetoric. I highly recommend it.
