Can I Give This More Stars?!

I really do like Amazon's rating system but can we change the system for this book? The Magnetic Mindset is worth so many more stars than just five. Based on the book's merits of being well written and helpful it should get the five stars, but when you factor in the fact that the book can literally change someone's life overnight, you have to rate it more highly. Since I can't though, I will just give it the good review that it deserves and tell everyone I know about it. This book is very well written and is divided into 365 days that will help the reader keep track of where they are and also see what they have gone through to get there. The inspirational quotes are empowering and with each quote you get a back story of sorts to help you better understand the quote and see how it can affect your daily life. I have seen many books that would only give the reader some quotes and let them decide what it means. I don't really have the time for that in my busy life so to have them analyzed and made more understandable is a bonus. The author has given us a gift with this book and we can thank her by reading it and letting it show us how to make a change in our lives.

The basic of concept of "The Magnetic Mindset: 365 Ways To Attract Abundance" is that you can control your environment by changing your perspective. It seems simple on the surface, but day to day it's easy to lose focus.

That's where the Magnetic Mindset comes in. Inspirational quotes from people such as Lincoln, Churchill and others help to provide daily affirmations. As the book suggests, instead of thinking "I'm broke." think to yourself, "I have enough money for what I need". Once you change your outlook, you empower yourself to have more financial security. It's amazing how quickly things can change with a positive mindset.

I would recommend this book to anyone who wants to improve their lives. Keep it on your nightstand or in your purse. Spend at least a few minutes on a new affirmation everyday, and see what the universe rewards you with!

excelent primer on STM/AFM design fundamentals

Smith & Chetwynd's book covers many of the fundamental design considerations for ultraprecision devices. This is done from a physiscist's perspective starting with a discussion of the basis for simple beam ananlysis. It proceeds through optimal constraint and flexure design, along with actuator and detector selection. Simplified design examples are included. Finally, a selection of construction materials along with their physical properties are presented, along with a discussion of optimization on that basis.

Pelvic floor info alone makes this well worth it

This is what I wish I'd learned in massage school. This book is 435 pages of invaluable information about how your human machine is designed to work (and what you can do when it doesn't). The 44+ pages on the pelvic floor alone make this book well worth the purchase. I personally think the section on Pregnancy, Childbirth, Babies and Children should be required reading for anyone wanting to procreate (it is soooo much more useful than What To Expect.....). Katy integrates an incredible amount of information and research in this book, combines it with her biomechanical savvy, and takes you on a journey that clearly shows you how your body works and why you're having the problems you're having.

She does a great job of making complex ideas easy to understand and relevant. And, as other reviewers have mentioned, you'll have many laughs along the way as you increase your body smarts.

Dog-eared in no time

This book has been my constant companion since I've had it. I love having the convenience of carrying it with me in my bag, and reading it anywhere. As a reader of Katysays.com, this material is not new to me, but re-reading the posts in this more organized format has been a joy. I'm sure this copy will be highlighted and post-it noted and thumbed through for years to come. I've already sold two copies just by recommendation. Like the other reviewers, this will be a gift I will be happy to give this season. (I'm thinking of a few older members of my family who aren't very computer savvy but would love this content!) As a Pilates teacher I can say this material has not only changed the way I teach, it has changed my life. It's real applicable knowledge, accompanied by many photos, written in a way that will have you staying up past your bedtime. Katy Bowman is just a gem.

This compilation of the first five years of blog posts written by Aligned and Well's Katy Bowman is incredibly useful, and dare I say MANDATORY for any person who wants to understand and take control of the health of their body.

Katy, in her engaging and often hilarious way, translates math, physics, and engineering concepts into crystal clear explanations of the everyday things people want to know, such as: why our feet, knees, back, or shoulders hurt and what to do about it, women's health concerns, what natural movement means, why fitness does not equal health, how heeled shoes alter body geometry (and function), improving digestive issues, changing the way we move by increasing our awareness, decorating (furniture free), birthing and raising kids, and SO much more!

You don't need to be highly trained in human anatomy and physiology to understand how the human body is designed to function optimally. And if you are a body expert, you too will probably be surprised to discover that the past 25 plus years of "exercise and fitness" education did not address how being out of alignment due to our habitual positions and lack of movement are a key issue in how and why the modern body seems prone to certain "lifestyle diseases".

Unpretentious, intelligent, endearing, and to the point, Katy teaches bio-mechanical concepts in delicious and addictive bite-sized portions. You will realize through this collection that by becoming aware, we really can take personal responsibility for the health of our bodies.

In addition to writing, Nesbit was an activist and co-founded the Fabian Society, a socialist group that provided the foundation for the modern British Labour Party. Nesbit died in 1924.

A classic children's fantasy set in Edwardian London

E. Nesbit completed her best known trilogy of fantasy books with The story of the Amulet. It returns us to the lives of the brothers and sisters we met in Five Children and It and The Phoenix and the Carpet. But the tone is darker and the freedom from adult observation is due to lonelyness rather than holiday freedoms, as was the case in the earlier novels. The children's parents are in danger of their life, and they find themselves faced with the chance to help when they meet the iracible Psammiad again. It leads them to a time travelling amulet, which might have the power to grant them their hearts desire.
Much of the charm of this book comes from the realism of the children's characters. No matter that they dress in the plus fours and petticoats of the Edwardian age, their bickering and wonder in the face of magical events makes them timeless.
A marvelous book, and a farewell to a familier group of children hovering on the verge of adulthood.

An excellent book!

This book is one really fun and exciting adventure. E. Nesbit is one of the best children's authors ever. I suggest that anyone interested start with Five Children and It, which is even better. I would recommend this book to anyone!

I liked "The Story of the Amulet", by Edith Nesbit. It is a well written and thought-provoking book. The children introduced in "The Five Children and It" and seen again in "The Pheonix and the Carpet" are back once more to finish the trio. As in "The Pheonix and the Carpet", this is a travelling book. However in this book the children travel in both time and space to search for the other half of an amulet that, when joined, will give the children their heart's desire. I removed a star for a few reasons. One, out of the five books by Nesbit that I have read, this is ranked 5th. That is not to say that this was a bad book. It's just that I thought the other ones were better. Two, I like the books where the characters are granted wishes best, as in "The Five Children and It". However, I would recommend this book to anyone who likes magical happenings, time travel, and those who liked other Edith Nesbit books.

Best guide to instructional systems design

This is the best guide to a systems approach to instructional design that has ever been written. I worked and taught in the field of instructional technology for 40 years, and I never found a better guide. Romiszowski includes a number features that have never been surpassed in later works, and there are many good ones.

For one, he ends each conceptual stage with a list of questions that should be asked at this stage. Everyone says that the instructional systems design should be a heuristic process, but Romi actually does it.

For another, he exhibits a depth of understanding of the categories of learning that was far ahead of his time in 1981, and in some regards is still ahead of educational practice. Specifically, he identifies "interpersonal skills" as a missing category; he underlines how important this category is; then he suggests a way to fill in this category. He also identifies a weakness in the taxonomy of physical skills. Later in his career Romiszowski filled this gap by developing a complete taxonomy of psychomotor skills. That alone should enshrine his name in education history. But that's just 1% of what he has done.

He is a master and well deserves to be taken seriously.
