It is noted that increased demand for high performance structures has driven new development of smart materials and structures. Due to the intrinsic coupling effect between mechanical, magnetic, and electric fields, piezoelectric ceramics have been widely used as actuation devices and, because of features such as capacity for adaptive shape processing and self-diagnosis, have been used in transducers for underwater and biomedical imaging, active damping, Robot manipulators, high precision devices, micro sensors/actuators, vibration and noise control and the like. This book is a research monograph dealing with these multifield structures using Green’s function and boundary element methodology. It presents a systematic and comprehensive coverage of theoretical and numerical modelling of multifield materials. The main emphasis is placed on fundamental concepts of the Green’s function, the development of different Green’s functions and boundary element formulations for coupled thermo-magneto-electro-elastic problems with various geometrical defects such as holes, cracks, half-plane boundary, and inclusion. The methods are described and derived with an objective to make them more accessible to research scientists, professional engineers and postgraduate students. In addition sections containing numerical examples are added demonstrating applications of the Green’s functions. Many of the numerical presented in the book are important in their own right and also as test problems for validating new formulations. The book will be of benefit to all postgraduate students, researchers, professional engineers, and academic scientists requiring an accessible introduction to this subject, and little mathematical knowledge beyond the usual calculus is needed. This book is really based on a collection of papers published in journals. The statement "...little mathematical knowledge beyond the usual calculus is needed" to understand the book is an exaggeration, as the presentation of the materials in the book is not any better than in those papers.

Chris Travis has hit on a unique concept with his first text effort. This book is not only an interesting read, it is a great resource and study guide all-in-one. He gives examples of real-life, generally unknown, characters in Scripture that were used by God to work His will.

He then makes the case for how God can also work with each of us in a similar manner to do great things, and draw us closer to Him.

The Scripture references present the basis for each character, and Chris then provides numerous other passages to support and expand each concept of how God can work with us, and within us.

A valuable book that will be read and re-read, and would be a great tool for small groups or Bible Studies.

A touching, inspiring book.

Chris Travis has written a beautiful little book. Each chapter has something that will inspire you, touch you, give you chills, sometimes make you smile and maybe make you cry a little. This is a celebration of what God has done and can do with ordinary people, just like you and I. If I were a preacher, each chapter would be a sermon in a series and I'd steal many of the stories and illustrations. Chris Travis is a gifted writer and paints some beautiful word pictures. I would only add more stories of heroes. So, preachers and teachers, if you do use the book, tell many stories of every day heroes. I'm giving this book to some of the heroes in my life.

Be an Unsuspected hero

I have read this book three times and still find new hidden messages not only in the characters but the intended messages. WOW. I love this book. Simple and yet thought provoking. A class using the guide is a must for adults as well as children. I teach Junk Art and my purpose is to reveal to the children the idea that "you don't need money to be an artist" all you need to do is to look in the junk drawer in your kitchen or the recycling bin. Chris Travis writes that you don't need money or a title to be a hero. We are all unsuspecting heroes when we do for others as we would have them do for us. Simple kindness. Simple smiles. The references he uses from the Bible are just astounding. I have read most of these references and I am most appreciative that I claim this book as mine. It is a goldmine of wonderful ways to interact with people of all ages. Stop and ask yourself, how can I be an "UNNAMMED Unsuspecting Hero Singled out by God". Beautiful book. Can't wait to get the study guide for our youth group at Garden Park Unity Church in Cincinnati, Ohio. Love the name and the cover of the book. Thank you Mr. Chris Travis for a job well done.

Practical, Insightful, and One-of-a-Kind

In "90 Days, 90 Ways" Alexia Vernon expertly details how Millennials (those born between 1980 and 2000; also known as "Generation Y") fit into today's corporate structure. Too often, a good amount of workplace anxiety, misunderstandings, and clashes are the result of two generations (with two very different sets of values) not understanding where the other one is coming from.

Any manager or HR professional who picks up this book will essentially have special access to a Millennial's mind as they begin a new job. This is a tremendous advantage, since having this knowledge will result in Millennial employees feeling valued, respected, understood, and listened to -- the perfect formula for a motivated and contributing team member. If, upon reading this book, you realize your company doesn't onboard young professionals in this manner, you'll definitely want to change that soon!

Great book but battling to know where the real story of Dylan actually is. ( who knows?) This one comes across with a few controversial but credibly put stories. Whoever Dylan is his creativity and genius are without doubt!!! Will keep listening until I'm and old man. Whoops almost there.

With out a doubt, one of those life-altering books. I read it a year ago, and it is still profoundly affecting me. I equate it to learning martial arts; the sooner you learn, the longer you are influenced, the better off you are.

Darren is able to connect the dots in so many rarely directly talked about phenomena, including the root of disease, how to appreciate symptoms, the truth about sugar, the importance and genius of water.

Give and Take

OMG!!! This book is HOT!!!
There is a lot of drama occurring, mainly because of Jackson's previous conquests, some of their family and friends contributed as well.
I love Anna's personality. She overcomes her insecurities and doesn't allow people to walk all over her. She's a tough, "nerdy" chick. Jackson is just damn sexy with his alpha self, though he was a jerk at times.
It ends in a HUGE cliffhanger!!! So be warned!

Old insecurities and unrealistic demands threaten Anna and Jackson's happily ever after but hopefully with a little give and take everything will fall into place in this riveting contemporary romance.

Anna's career has become a bone of contention between Jackson and Anna but so has Jackson's past, especially when she waltzes right back into his life and the reader can't help but get caught up in all the emotional turmoil and drama that flows from every page as it seems everything and everyone conspire against Jackson and Anna having their happily ever after even with all the scorching hot sex that their fiery desires leads to there is going to have to be quite a bit of give and take. These strong compelling characters capture the heart and demand your attention while they figure it out and the steady to fast paced plot captivates readers with lots of suspense, drama and passion.

Lots of excitement and tension keeps readers on the edge of their seat as betrayals and miscommunication surrounds Anna and Jackson's relationship with chaos and some surprises both for Anna and Jackson add even more spice to the excitement. The well written scenes and details capture the imagination and bring the story to life with the well orchestrated events drawing the reader deeper into Anna and Jackson's relationship and the small town setting adds the perfect ambiance for the story as well.

I have to say that the vivid intensity of the emotions that flew from Anna and Jackson throughout this story kept me completely enthralled from cover to cover and really what a cliffhanger...when does the next book come out? I will be waiting (very, very impatiently) to find out what happens next.

Killer of a cliffhanger

GIVE AND TAKE has a well developed storyline, characters that evoke strong responses (both positive and negative), and full on sexiness that is a nice bonus to a good romance. However, alas, GIVE AND TAKE ends in a cliffhanger. It isn't a little, comfortable, I'm looking forward to seeing what happens between them next kind of cliffhanger either. It's the I want to flip the table over kind of cliffhanger. It's a heart in your chest, praying to the book faeries that the book isn't really going to end here kind of cliffhanger. Yep, it's that big! So I suppose that I have no choice but to be patient and hope that book 2 comes out fairly soon. Although this cliffhanger was a little dagger to my heart I believe that I will still add GIVE AND TAKE to my favorites list. I can't deny that I was well and truly sucked into the story and enjoyed what I have received so far. It's just...this dang story ended in a cliffhanger! (Yes, I know that I am whining!)
